In addition to the classes listed here, we are also available for private (individual and group) bookings for sewing, computer, and quilt/embroidery software classes. Please feel free to contact us should you have some class interests not listed here—or listed at inconvenient times. We’re always open to new ideas and will schedule in as much as we can to accommodate your needs. We invite you to browse our schedule below. Note: newcomers are always welcome, even to class series already begun!

Learn-to-Sew Classes:


KidStart (6 Sessions)

$150 incl matl’s

This beginner-level class for children 8 years and up will start building a solid foundation in the world of sewing. Each of the three projects has been selected to practise different sewing skills. Students will complete this class understanding the basics of sewing machine safety and operation. Sewing machines and safety glasses provided.

KidSew Continues (KidStart Level 2) (6 sessions)

$120 + matl’s

This follow-up to KidStart builds upon learned machine and sewing skills to progress to more involved projects. More great ideas are lined up to encourage young sewists’ enthusiasm. Sewing machines and safety glasses provided.





Beginner Adult Sewing (6 Sessions)

$120 + matl’s

Learn the fundamentals of sewing in this hands-on, project-oriented learn-to-sew class. With a focus on simple construction skills you will complete several small projects leading up to beginner garmentry.

Carry-On Adult Sewing: Pants (4 Sessions)

$80 + matl’s

Use the skills gained in the beginner session with a greater emphasis on garmentry and pattern-reading in this intro to basic pant construction featuring darts, a dressy pocket, a fly zipper and fitted waistband. Explore various pant hem finishes (topstitch, blind hem, and cuff) with additional hem options, time permitting. Prerequisite: Beginner Adult Sewing from That Sewing Place.





Carry-On Adult Sewing: Shirt (4 sessions)

$80 + matl’s

Continue perfecting your sewing foundation with the “Essential Shirt”: make a casual, semi-fitted yoked shirt with a collar and stand, cuffs,  and placket—no wardrobe is complete without several of these fashion stand-by’s! Prerequisite: Beginner Adult Sewing from That Sewing Place.





The Knit Series: Beginner Knits “Tee Time” (1 session)

$60 + matl’s

This beginner knits class will focus on the unique properties of knitted fabric and the techniques required to sew successfully with it. Explore handling and construction details as applied to a selection of hem, cuff and collar options as you make your own stylish yet t-shirt… This class is the one of a series of knit sessions where different knits will be tackled. Watch for jacket fleece, sweat-shirt fleece, fashion stretches, and 4-way stretch in upcoming seasons! (some previous sewing experience required)





Slimmin’ Slinky (2 sessions)

$60 + matl’s

We think Slinky is a miracle fabric! It’s flattering to all figures, is oh-so-comfy to wear, and it can be dressed up for the glitziest of evening or down for everyday casual. That’s just win, win, win! And best of all, it’s easy to sew—when you know how, and that’s what this class is all about—how to choose pants and shirt styles suitable to Slinky, how to size it optimally, and the trick of the trade to stitch it successfully. A serger is a must for this class, and if you’re like us, Slinky will become your favourite, too!





O.M.G. It Fits! (5 sessions)

Struggle with getting garments to fit you properly? Using Silhouette patterns and the Peggy Sagers method of fitting, learn to adapt patterns to fit you the way they should!
